RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PREPARING FOR A NEWBORN PHOTO SESSION

Preparing for the newborn photo session requires a few simple steps to be aware of so that it is a beautiful experience and the photos we create together to be the ones you desire with your baby. Bellow you have all the details necessary to know when you come to the studio with your baby.

Baby's outfits

I usually photograph newborn babies with or without a diaper and one more prop. The studio will be heated accordingly - please do not worry about it.

The props are prepared by me. However if you have a special object that you would like for us to use, please bring it with you (a blanket, a teddy, etc). It is important that you choose only that object that really holds a special meaning to you. We will pick the colors together.

Parent's outfits

I highly recommend that you avoid clothes that have drawings, logo's and texts on them. It is best to bring an outfit of neutral colour, simple and without elements that distract you (white, beige, pastel).

They do not look good and will outdate the images fast. You should avoid clothing that sparks or which large prints. If in doubt I am more than wiling to help you choose, if you send me photos of the outfits you were considering.

How long does a newborn session lasts?

For the START package, where I only photograph the baby, the photo session lasts approximately 1 hour. For the BASIC package which includes photos with the parents and siblings, usually the session lasts 3 hours.

What do you need to bring?

So that we do not rush and have a pleasant experience, please bring extra diapers, wet napkins, milk bottle (if the baby is not breastfed, or still receives extra poweder milk, please bring 2-3 meals with you). It is important that the baby is well fed and hidrated during the sessions so he can sleep for the specific newborn posing. If the baby is breastfed but yet he is not able to grab the breast correctly, please bring enough breast milk in a bottle at the session. A mother's milk does not have the same consistency as the powder milk so the baby will be hungry faster. They will not get used with the bottle at the session.

The baby must sleep or be awake at the photo session?

The purpose of the photo session is to obtain the images you see in my portfolio, thus it is important that the baby sleeps during the photo session. For the baby to sleep well at the photo session please take in consideration these aspects:

  • The previous shooting day, please feed the baby upon request so that he is well fed and takes deep long naps at the photo session

  • When you prepare for the session, please dress the baby in a loose body or overalls so that I can undress the baby easy and without disturbing him too much, so that the baby goes back to sleep

  • If it is possible, please keep the baby awake for 1 hour before the session. If the baby is well rested chances are he will not sleep during the photo session. When babies are awake they usually fuss and I won't be able to position them as you see in the portfolio. If the baby is calm I will take photos with the baby awake as well, but in the limits of comfort and safety for the baby.
  • pacifier - I know it is a sensitive subject - but if possible, just for the photo session, please bring one. It will be of help in the moments where the sucking reflex is strong, even if the baby has just been fed and is almost asleep. The baby will not get used with the pacifier at the session.

Can other people be present at the session like grandparents, godparents or other people?

Babies are very sensitive to any state of agitation and to auditory stimuli, that is why I do not recommend the precense of other people besides parents and siblings. However we can discuss special circumstances where someone else needs to be present.

Things to know when entering the studio

  • The photo session takes place in a space with special light and props equipments, which require special attention.

  • We suggest you follow the rules of use of the space

  • It is very important, that when necessary, the shoes you use during a session to be very very very clean. Access with regular street shoes is not allowed in the studio, and they will be left at the entrance of the studio. There are slippers that can be used at the studio. I usually photograph everyone barefoot, from an aesthetic point of view, and for newborn sessions I usually take the family shots from waist up.

  • the session you booked has a specific fixed duration and depending on this, other appointments will be made. This why please bare in mind that extending the photo session's time will be done only in the limit of photographer's available time and at the costs of a new session. Please be on time.

If one of the family member is ill, can he come to the photo session?

In order to keep my tiny clients as well as me (the photographer) healthy, if any of the family members have health problems that are potentially contagious (cold, flu, enterocolitis, cough etc.), the session will be rescheduled according to the availability of the agenda, or the sick person can not attend the photo session. I work closely with newborns who have a delicate immune system. The studio is sanitised before each session and I do my best to keep myself healthy for my customers. Please do not enter the studio if you are sick. This can bring me and my clients into contact with viruses that will force me to reschedule many newborn sessions. In the event that you arrive at the studio and one of the family members is sick, the session will be canceled in order to not endanger the babies who come to the studio. Thank you for understanding!

How many setups will be made?

On the START package, where I work only with the baby, there will usually be 2 setups, and at he BASIC package there will be 4-5 setups, not very complicated, so we don't distract the attention from the baby.

When and how do we pay? Is there an advance to be paid?

The payment is done at the end of each session, in cash or by bank transfer (online banking). I do not require advanced payment because I believe in the common sense of all people and I am convinced you will let me know if you need to reschedule or cancel your booking if an exceptional situation should arise to prevent you from keeping your booking.

How do we receive the photos?

The digital files (which you can choose from a selection of un-edited images) will be received through a private online gallery about 8 weeks after the photo session. After editing the session, it's possible that I will post a selection of images on Facebook / website with some pictures with your consent.

I want more photos! Is it possible?

If you want additional images on top of those included in the package, you can purchase them extra for 10 lei / image. Most families believe that the number of photos included in the packages is enough.

Do we sign a contract?

Of course. You will receive the contract in advance to be studied and digitally signed.

These personalised recommendations will also be emailed for you and will include details about studio address, phone number, etc.

If you have any further questions, you can leave a message here.
